The RCIA is a process by which one enters the Catholic Church through prayer, study and discussion. This class is designed for those who are: not baptized, baptized in another denomination, or baptized Catholic but did not make their First Holy Communion or Confirmation.
The classes will meet three Mondays each month beginning in September and ending at the Easter Vigil Mass. Please sign the sign-up sheet in the church narthex and we will contact you with details of the program.

For questions or more information contact the parish office at: (708) 484-7951.

childrenchoirOne of the things that I enjoy most is developing young singers and musicians. Therefore, I am really looking forward to beginning our 2018-2019 Children’s Choir season. The choir is open to all Religious Education students (and past Religious Education students), Grade 2 and up.  All that is needed to join is the desire to learn new music to sing at Mass.

Our first meeting will be on the first day of Religious Education class, September 23, after the 10:30am Mass. This year, we will hold rehearsals in the Church each Sunday after the 10:30am Mass, and each rehearsal should last about 30-40 minutes. We will sing twice a month at the 10:30am Mass.

I hope that you might encourage our students to join this choir. My goal is to have these students bring an added joy to the celebration of the Mass.
Steve Kittler - Director of Music

catechistsneededSo, just who are these catechists?

They are secretaries, executives, factory workers, stay-at-home moms and dads, real estate agents, construction workers, lawyers, nurses, accountants, firefighters, and police officers. In other words, they are everyday Catholics, dedicated to inviting young people into a deeper relationship with Jesus. They help young people to understand the Creed, celebrate the sacraments, live moral lives, and pray.

St. Pius X Religious Education Ministry invites you to become a Catechist or an Aide.

Saturday, September 29th - 5:45 –6:45 p.m. - Church narthex

comefollowmePledge Report — August 2018
“Come, Follow Me”

104 parishioners pledged to the Annual Catholic Appeal. It is very important that these pledges be paid so that our parish will reach and, hopefully, exceed our goal. Once the pledge payments have exceeded our goal, all of the additional funds are returned to our parish for use in our ministries. The report as of August 19, 2018 is as follows:

PARISH GOAL: $14,535.85
AMOUNT PLEDGED: $16,492.00
AMOUNT PAID: $13,542.00

Thank you for continued support to those in need.

If you would like a priest, deacon or minister of care to visit, or if you wish to receive the Sacrament of the Sick, please contact the Parish Office at: 708-484-7951.

The Archdiocese of Chicago is committed to providing safe environments for the community. In the midst of a culture of violence, the Church is a staunch voice to call us to be a place of peace. The Archdiocese has long had a best practice restricting the presence of firearms in our facilities. Most of our buildings display signage, consistent with the laws of the State of Illinois, indicating that these weapons are prohibited on the premises. Cardinal Cupich recently distributed a Policy aimed at updating and clarifying the Archdiocese’s position on the prohibition of firearms on all property it owns and controls.

bakingbread2018Our new Missaletts have arrived and we will begin using them at the December 2, 2017 at the 5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass of the First Sunday of Advent. You are invited to dedicate a Missalette in the name of a loved one or commemorate a special event. For a donation of $25 a book plate will be placed on the front cover of each dedicated Missalette.

For the past 13 years St. Pius X parishioners have supported our Religious Education “Sponsor a Student” Scholarship Program. Since its inception, we have received an overwhelming 90 scholarships. Fr. Tony Markus and The Religious Education Staff would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generosity. We ask for your continued support during the 2018-2019 School Year.
A $180.00 Sponsorship covers the tuition for one student for the school year.
