Phase II - ST. PIUS X PARISH

The St. Pius X Prayer Shawl Ministry has prayer shawls available for your family members that need the comfort of prayers and blessings. Call the parish office (708) 484-7951 to request a prayer shawl.
About Prayer Shawls
In 1998, Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, two graduates of the 1997 Women’s Leadership Institute at the Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut gave birth to aministry as a result of their experience in this program of applied Feminist Spirituality under the direction of Professor Miriam Therese Winter, MMS. Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice, which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Many blessings are prayed into every shawl.
Whether they are called Prayer Shawls, Comfort Shawls, Peace Shawls, or Mantles, etc., the shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion a final blessing is offered before the shawl is given to the recipient.
The purpose of the St. Pius X August Project is to raise funds to pay for necessary repairs that have come to our attention and have not been included in our budget.
This year’s August Project will be addressing repairs to our rectory. Our rectory is 64 years old and is in need of some dire repairs due to age. It is imperative to keep our rectory in good shape. The rectory is needed to provide a home for our new pastor now and for future Pastors.
The repairs include:
Let us all pray the Hail Mary for the protection from the COVID-19 pandemic especially for those in Healthcare, First Responders, Food Service and other job essential workers. Pray for those affected by COVID-19 or facing quarantine and those who have died. Pray for our family and friends for our health and safety.
As of November 6, 2020St. Mary’s has tallied 356,555 Hail Marys.
Together we can pray 1,000,000 Hail Marys.

A Prayer For “Renew My Church"
Lord Jesus, you speak to us today,
as you spoke to holy men and women
who have gone before us.
In every age and in our own time,
you call to us and say: Renew My Church.
Pour out the gift of your Holy Spirit upon us, and so enable us
to hear you clearly
to listen to each other attentively
to imagine our future boldly
to discern your direction wisely
to persevere in your holy will courageously
to stay together in charity
to surrender our own plans readily
to embrace the greater good
to hand on your gifts to future generations.
May we remain in the holy company of
the Blessed Virgin Mary, the apostles and all the saints.
May their example and presence
inspire us with patient confidence
in the work of your grace.
We ask this of you who live and reign
with the Father in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen
