Lectors

When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in his word, proclaims the Gospel (General Instruction of the Roman Missal #29)
The Lector’s role takes place during the Liturgy of the Word. They are the men, women and young adults who proclaim the Word of God at liturgical celebrations. If a deacon is not present, the Lector will lead the Prayers of the Faithful and read the announcements at the end of Mass. Volunteers must be comfortable with reading in public. Training is provided. For more information, please call the Parish Office (708) 484-7951.
