After we present the Scenarios and our feedback, the Archdiocesan team begins their work to determine what they believe will be the best outcome for the long-term viability of a new parish to be formed. They will make their presentation to the Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council and Cardinal Cupich in early January.

Due to the current Covid-19 state and local restrictions BINGO will be cancelled until further notice. Thank you for your understanding and support. We pray you will stay well and safe.

St. Pius X has moved into Phase II of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s plan to reopen our churches.

  1. Phase II allows for reopening for weekday and weekend Masses for larger groups depending on the guidelines from the state and the capacity of the church building.
  2. Our utmost concern is for the safety of all, therefore, through ongoing discussions with pastors, health care professionals and civil authorities, there will be a review of the Plan and adjustments may be made according with new data.

prayershawlThe St. Pius X Prayer Shawl Ministry has prayer shawls available for your family members that need the comfort of prayers and blessings. Call the parish office (708) 484-7951 to request a prayer shawl.

About Prayer Shawls
In 1998, Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, two graduates of the 1997 Women’s Leadership Institute at the Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut gave birth to a ministry as a result of their experience in this program of applied Feminist Spirituality under the direction of Professor Miriam Therese Winter, MMS. Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice, which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Many blessings are prayed into every shawl.

Whether they are called Prayer Shawls, Comfort Shawls, Peace Shawls, or Mantles, etc., the shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion a final blessing is offered before the shawl is given to the recipient.

The purpose of the St. Pius X August Project is to raise funds to pay for necessary repairs that have come to our attention and have not been included in our budget.

This year’s August Project will be addressing repairs to our rectory. Our rectory is 64 years old and is in need of some dire repairs due to age. It is imperative to keep our rectory in good shape. The rectory is needed to provide a home for our new pastor now and for future Pastors.
The repairs include:

  1. Replacing the front door and frame. Due to age and weather conditions the door, which is the original door,
    needs to be replaced.
  2. Professionally sand and varnish hardwood floor and staircase.  The hardwood floors have not been done for over 20 years.

Let us all pray the Hail Mary for the protection from the COVID-19 pandemic especially for those in Healthcare, First Responders, Food Service and other job essential workers. Pray for those affected by COVID-19 or facing quarantine and those who have died. Pray for our family and friends for our health and safety.

As of November 6, 2020
St. Mary’s has tallied 356,555 Hail Marys.

Together we can pray 1,000,000 Hail Marys.

Send in your count to Michelle Brown at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view be added to the challenge. Please keep praying!
