youcanmakeadifferenceAs we look forward to Spring and a reduction in Covid-19 restrictions, the St. Pius X Faith Formation Ministry has begun to plan for the 2021-2022 school year.

We are in need of Catechists and Aides to share their faith with our children.

Catechists are secretaries, executives, factory workers, stay-at-home moms and dads, real estate agents, construction workers, lawyers, nurses, accountants, firefighters, and police officers. In other words, they are everyday Catholics, dedicated to inviting young people into a deeper relationship with Jesus. They help young people to understand the Creed, celebrate the sacraments, live moral lives, and pray.

For more information, contact Patrick Koren by phone at 708-484-7951 ext. 5, by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., to learn about training for catechists.

prayershawlThe St. Pius X Prayer Shawl Ministry has prayer shawls available for your family members that need the comfort of prayers and blessings. Call the parish office (708) 484-7951 to request a prayer shawl.

About Prayer Shawls
In 1998, Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, two graduates of the 1997 Women’s Leadership Institute at the Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut gave birth to a ministry as a result of their experience in this program of applied Feminist Spirituality under the direction of Professor Miriam Therese Winter, MMS. Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice, which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Many blessings are prayed into every shawl.

Whether they are called Prayer Shawls, Comfort Shawls, Peace Shawls, or Mantles, etc., the shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. The intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion a final blessing is offered before the shawl is given to the recipient.

Let us all pray the Hail Mary for the protection from the COVID-19 pandemic especially for those in Healthcare, First Responders, Food Service and other job essential workers. Pray for those affected by COVID-19 or facing quarantine and those who have died. Pray for our family and friends for our health and safety.

As of April 11, 2021
St. Mary’s has tallied 801,287 Hail Marys.

Together we can pray 1,000,000 Hail Marys.

Send in your count to Michelle Brown at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.to be added to the challenge. Please keep praying!
